God sets out a welcome
a bountiful front porch
expansive and always present
a front porch, maybe
with a homemade pie cooling
or maybe a bouquet
fresh-cut flowers
a mat before the door
His prevenient grace, ready when we are
By these we know the love of the owner
the open arms of the father
open to every prodigal son, prodigal daughter
ignoring, forgiving our sins
welcoming us through the door.
