He proved the point one further time
a humble king, just and holy
hanging on the wooden cross
body bloodied and pierced
forgiving the Romans
the Jews, all whose sins
brought him to the point of death
humbling himself, to atone for us
taking on the mantle of the cross,
the grave, on himself
to fulfill the scriptures
and bring us home
to the father
