Knowing the suffering
the bitterness of the cup
God giving him comfort
as he lifted it up
Taking the poison
that we may be healed
the sins remembered
in the bile of the cup
The words of memory
of the lash of evil
the trials revealed
in the story of his life
the story of God’s love
