It’s not about us

Wearing the ashes of the palms
the burnt hosannas of Sunday
our joy turned to sorrow
how fitting we start in the dust
because this is our fate
to die, to return to dust
when our purpose is love

It’s not about us
all is about love
how God loves us
how we love one another
in this walk of life
fitting that we start in dust
for to dust we shall return
