I was drinking, that much certain,
in the dorm, maybe at a bar
wearing a grey Levis corduroy jacket
how many I don’t remember
too many I’m sure
getting there somehow
standing on the stone jetty
the pitch blackness
the tide coming in
crashing on my footsteps
I remember the rain
splashing on my face
the taste of salt water
only then the silence
waking in my bed
I don’t know how I lived
how I got off that jetty
the tide coming in
only that is was slippery
in the middle of the storm
