on the surface of their eye
a smudge, a smear, a nothing
inconsequential to their vision
hardly worth mentioning
to their walk in this life
a log, a tree, a limb
a plank protruding
blocking our vision, our sight;
why are we focused on our neighbors
when we ourselves are blind
