Hungry for Our Fruit

the story of a fig tree
not bearing any fruit
this is not just a nice story
something distant from our lives
it is a challenge to us daily
for we are the fig trees
growing in this time
Christ calls us to service
to be His hands and feet
He is hungry for our fruit
to be shared in this life
Christ calls us to bear witness
to love as He loved us
to love unconditionally
everywhere in the world
we are to stand on the lampstand
shining the light He gives us
we are not to hide our gifts
our fruit in a closed basket
