Thorns – v4

Before the crucifixion

Christ’s life slipping out

tortured and beaten

brought close to death

Piercing thorns

long, sharp, menacing,

knitted together

an awful crown

Crushed onto His brow

pain deep within Him

rivulets of blood

coursing down Jesus’ face

A crown for a criminal

hardly worthy for a King

our Lord, our Savior

the Lamb of God
