It was not Bethlehem
where He was born
nor Nazareth where He grew up
not Capernaum where He preached
certainly not Jerusalem
His place of trial;
wanting to be in Bethany
a place of comfort, of rest
A safe place for Jesus
a refuge with friends
ones who would not pressure
no magic tricks, no demons,
a place of refuge, not challenge;
Bethany, their home,
Christ returning their often
on His journey home.
