The angel calling to him
The awesome responsibility
to trust in his dream
to believe in her
faithfulness;
To believe the ancient
prophecy
the
ancient words come alive
in Mary, his bride,
already heavy with child.
He took this upon himself
taking her to himself
believing the angel’s story
and raising the Son of Glory;
Offering his own life
whatever plans he had
to care for her, for the
child,
to be the step-father of God.
