painting in the heavens
across the canvas
thin, fine, airy, lines only
sometimes much wider
ribbons, painted, effortlessly
brush strokes in the heavens
mascara lashes, vertically written
as if breathed on angels’ eyes
sparks in the canvas
holes punched in the dome
suspended in the December sky
words written across the heavens
there beside the interchange
visible from many angles
precise brush strokes of the master
whispered, spoken on the wind
