A kernel of hope
Lives changed deep inside
Protected from the enemy
Against the pain
The struggle of our lives
Grows our hearts, alive
When tended, when fed
Memories ignite, a fire
Nurture the garden
Reap the reward
Fades from the memory
When tested by the fire
Hurt is no more
Discarded to the dust
For graven choices
Echoes of our hopes
In the dark, the wilderness
Against the shadows
In my heart,
out in the world
