Water running down glass
blurring our vision;
The image, of melting,
softening the moment
A shimmering morning
captured in the rainstorm;
The skin of the pond dancing
a tympany of the droplets
A patina, ripples,
reverberating
undulating, repeating,
like a sheet on the
clothesline,
captured in the rainstorm
Seeing Monet’s lily pads
not a static painting,
but a living tableau
moving before my eyes
