I had watched the February-sun
be eaten by the clouds;
the last image of its glow
lost in early afternoon
I put out my hand for the
moisture
but there was no
precipitation;
the air was ready for the
flurries
the fury of the gale to come
the presence of the storm
was already upon us;
the snow was palpable in the
air
at the moment of sunset
darkness already was surrounding,
smothering the atmosphere,
feeling as if it was right
at the dew point;
the air was ready for the
many hours
of the onslaught to come
