The Presence of the Storm

putting out my hand

but there was no precipitation

the air ready for the flurries

the fury of the gale to come

the presence of the storm

was already upon us

palpable in the air

at the moment of sunset

darkness already surrounding

smothering the atmosphere

right at the dew point

ready for the many hours

of the onslaught to come
