imagining the palette of God – v2

Looking at the sunset, before,
the painting, the image,
above the ancient mountain
below the horizon line
trying to describe with words
that are feeble, inadequate
(now that’s an understatement)

Imagining the palette of God
not limited by what I know as color
painting in fragrance, in emotion,
in temperatures, in seasons,
in cold and in heat, in motion,
in liquids, nothing so static, limited,
as what I know as shades and color

Imagining the palette of God, God’s colors,
in words I can relate to, that I can convey
in ways that I can share with others
to share my joy in the image, this gift of God
a daunting task, at best, at most,
something to be experienced
to be lived out loud
