sprinkled with sparkle
with a dusting of glitter,
snow,
with greater definition
able to see the outlines
of every hill, every
crevasse
the features of the mountain
shining, preening
in the morning light.
preening for the camera
as if standing taller
a picture day at school
its Sunday best attire
appointed, hair coiffed
ready for the portrait
for the closeup,
an image just right.
snow on the mountain
tallest in the state
a hint of winter coming
autumn down below
October past peak
but eyes drawn to the
mountain
Pamola watching over us
a guardian o’er the land.
a stillness to the morning
silence as I drive
capturing the moment
bright sun in the sky
igniting the snow
illumining the contours,
the autumn world in shadow
in the valleys below.
