the strings of gossamer – v6

She sat with Him

held within her loving arms

the crucified body of Christ

our Messiah, May’s baby boy.

Her gaze given a new focus

ensnared in strings of gossamer

obscuring the body of Christ

in the words of the spider.

Speaking in lines that she drew

painted on the face of the Madonna;

The visage of sadness set off

in the meshed strings of gossamer.

in her strings of gossamer

in the artistry of the veil,

in the needle work of the spider

giving Mary’s gaze a new focus

staring down into the face of Jesus

ensnared in her strings of gossamer

obscuring the broken body of Christ

her beloved child in her arms

in the words of the spider

spoken in the lines that she drew

in the lines painted on her face

upon our sacrificed Savior

holding the body of Jesus

Cradled in her loving arms

after His death, His crucifixion,

the crowds gone, quiet

the women and the others

after they lowered His body

from the rugged cross

Holding of the body of Jesus

the Messiah, the Christ

forming the pieta, before His burial

His mother, the Madonna,

the mother with her baby

as she was at the stable.

God’s plan come full circle

why He had come to the earth

there with His mother

fulfilling His purpose;

The babe in the manger and

the man from the cross.
