Peter, James and John,
their boats on the shore
tired from the night
discouraged,
with nothing to show
Jesus coming toward them
a crowd at his heels
down to the water’s edge
to preach a word to them
But asking Peter, Simon
to come onto the boat
into the waters to give his word;
acting when he asked
A message of hope
to the crowd
and to those in the boat as well
Going out to deeper waters
nets bursting with fish
But the nets would lay full
the boats on the shore
abandoned in an instant
Christ said, come, follow me
and the fishermen did as he said.
