The winter afternoon bright and sunny
the green against the gray
the eastern hemlock luminous
on the asphalt shining
drawing me to bend
and lift the branch to my eye
Not knowing what to do next
transferring the sprig to the snow pile
the green warming
a cocoon forming
soon to be encased
in a cave of ice

This one speaks to me; is strangely satisfying, though I can't quite explain why.
