Simon’s Fear

In that moment, conscious
fearful at his feet
Simon’s fear palpable
knowing himself so well

Bowing before the Christ
this man preaching that day
trying to send away the king
his sin all too real,
to plain for him to bear

But Christ’s words of comfort
mercy to this man
offering hope and a change of life
going a different way

Saying, come, follow me
a charge, a call for his life
to fish for men away from the sea
to offer them hope with him
