Evil stalking, a presence
in the courtyard of power
that fateful morning
Christ judged, convicted
whipped and beaten
wearing a crown of thorns
Following the crowd
the calls of the leaders
none speaking a different word
Cries of , “crucify Him!”
when offered mercy
choosing Barabbas instead
To the cross, to Calvary
God’s will lived out
His humble submission
silent there, the Christ
in the courtyard of human power
