The Bread of the Word

The living Christ
the body, the cup
the bread of the word
alive in our mouths
living within us
growing, the leavening
lifting us up
up off our feet
the bread rising
the Spirit within
guiding us forward
that we may lead
by following our Savior
his example in life
but remaining the salt of the earth
that we may be light

on seeing the title of the poem,
“Fed by His Words”, as I prepared to post it
to the www.faithwriters.com

==================

Fed by His Words

Not by bread
fed by his words
offering hope
a way through the troubles
a place beyond this world

His message, his life
giving a different direction
Love, not power
caring, not wealth
the way of the Lord

Racing To The Shore
© By: Raymond A. Foss

To be with him,
if only to touch
the edge of his coat
to be healed
Hungry people
racing to the shore
to where he would land
going before him
so they may be healed
so they may be fed
