Mouse, hearing what you do not want
vacuous, trembling, in the dark
moving without sound, sudden
hidden passion, missing the mark
moving, furtive, excitement, muted
unwilling to stretch, to reach out
hiding behind the rhythms, the meaning
inspiration, perspiration
will it not be good enough
no craft in the mess
thundering, pouring out
an unguided hand
will joy be lost
when a gift is a talent
when the learning itself
turns the gossamer to dust
