Reading these lines, foreboding
disquiet in my spirit
mystery in each word, each line
wondering what you meant
red in the morning sky
warming, a storm coming
was it Peter as the cock crowed
that led your pen to write
was this scene
facing his mortality, betrayal
the meaning of the line
“after the night of time”
was it that foreboding,
infusing these lines with dread
