We may not know what others believe
when they see us, what we are doing
eating the meat of idols
sharing in gossip, dissension
stirring up trouble
not walking exclusively
not walking in the light
gathering with sinners
falling in the world’s traps
not being faithful, disciples
straying from the cross
needing to be mindful
thinking of what we are doing
though we are aware of our freedom
the grace washing o’er us
God’s love shining down
they may not know this
only seeing the surface
eating the meat of idols
wallowing in the mud
