The peace of Christ was given
by the Word made flesh
by God incarnate
Emmanuel, the Christ
on that night of his betrayal
speaking of what he would leave us
when he left our sight
a love deeper, richer that this
peace he gave us, the peace of Christ
nothing should trouble us
we should walk in his light
Would we be so anxious
flailing about, would be so timid
why wouldn’t we shout
freed from worry, free from doubt
yet the world still hems us in
bringing us down
when we know we will wear
a golden crown
Why do we worry,
why do we fear
when a love like this
should wash every tear
life should be bolder
we should sing that song
praising our Savior
all the day long
