Offering real peace

Christ’s gift to us
in so many layers
how he loved us
how he cared for us

Before the sacrifice
the pain, the sorrow
offering real peace
the peace that he carried

Christ’s peace offered
given that night
when the betrayer fled
to set the day in motion

Christ speaking to them
in the upper room
offering peace
amidst the foreboding doom
