the time of Lent

Not the baby
the journey to the manger
to bring our gifts to God
holy in our journey

The time of Lent
slowing for another purpose
bringing our hearts to God
to find wholeness, healing

Facing our abject sin
our need for the cross
journeying with our Savior
as he makes that fateful choice

Walking the disciples
all the saints before us
a time of suffering, of healing
for we know the awful cost
