Cypher – v2

A cipher, nullity, a phantom
stood before them, as if not there
unknown and unacknowledged
time lost never to be regained
lives turned, away, no longer there
Left adrift, unfulfilled
unmerited and unheralded
without reference or rudder
crashing on the hidden shoals
unseen rocks, day by day, now years
below the waves, the sands of time
an unrecognized face, a forgotten voice
only an echo of a specter remains
