examine my heart

not to call God
as did David, the psalmist,
but to look within
within my own being
to examine my heart
to seek out my mind
grappling with my own weakness
being honest with myself
my hope for forgiveness
in turning toward you
before you judge me fully
may I humble myself before you
way I give myself to you
