the openness of children

perhaps an idealized statement
but something of truth
of the wisdom of the kingdom
too soon do they turn
living in the world
but Christ’s message clear
for the disciples and for us
the openness of children
before they become jaded
vulnerable, at our mercy
for these is the kingdom
open to Christ’s calling
to the grace of our God
becoming like these
our hope after all
