costing them nothing – v3

harsh words of Jesus
calling us to reflect
are we like the widows
or are we like them

where is their faith
there trust in God
do they come humbly
or to rise above the crowd

many gifts they gave
from their pocket change
out of their abundance
only their excess to God

they gave nothing
no cost to them at all
surplus for the temple
for the worship of God

money for the treasury
but no cost to them
no merit in their gifts
their false offering
