costing them nothing

where is their faith
where is trust in God
do they come humbly
or to rise above the crowd

the gifts they gave
from their pocket change
out of their abundance
their excess to God

they gave nothing
no cost to them at all
surplus for the temple
for the worship of God

money for the treasury
but no cost to them
no merit in their gifts
their false offering
