food of the world
empty calories, wasted
nothing remaining
nothing of worth
our bodies empty, yearning
wanting to be filled
to be nourished
aching in our spirits
God hearing our cries
feeding us richly
offering Jesus
the ancient scripture
feeding our spirit
as He fed the people
wandering in the desert
yearning to be free
bread every morning
in the living word
