We must face the fact
that we fail to be Christians
believing that God only helps those
who help themselves
God is the opposite
His way is kindness,
helping those who cannot
who are unable to help themselves
The canard of this world
belief in self-reliance,
the arrogance that the clay
is better than the Master
We are humble bits of dust
breathed into life by God,
we should be helping all those others
who need our loving care
We should be Christians
by emulating Jesus, our Master,
offering love to all we meet
offering them love, Jesus
