A Pharisee, a Levite
perhaps a Nicodemus
trying to have an open
mind
a heart for Jesus
There on the street
but not a pilgrim
a citizen of Jerusalem
working in the Temple
A Pharisee, a Levite
part of the apparatus
the Temple worship, busy
getting ready for the
Passover
The ancient rite
remembered
a busy time in the city
even without Jesus around
work to do in the Temple
A Pharisee, a Levite
perhaps a Nicodemus
wanting to believe
from within the system
The events unfolding
scripture fulfilled
Jesus revealing
who He truly is.
