This morning,
that spring-morning light,
something
special, magical, the low dim, soft bright
illumining, reaching
treetops yearning for the light
nascent buds,
the flowers, farther down, unfiltered
translucent,
glowing a cherry red, afire, ablaze
burnt orange
highlights, accents, dabbed as by a brush
Across the
warming, waking canvas
illumined by
spring-morning light
A warming
sun, not yet hot, waking the forest, the woods
to my right,
in the clearings, the noble woodlands
just off the
highway, still visible into the thin groves
before the
summer leaves block the view
Spring-morning
light, washing through, urging
more than
filtered light, shining spotlight still
down to the
forest floor, all the woods awash, bathed
in that
wondrous spring-morning light
