two prayers we lift up
most often, when we are honest
thinking first of ourselves
then others, in their season
praying, “help me, help me, help me”,
when we are despairing
praying, “thank you, thank you, thank you”,
when something goes our way
too often this is the ending
nothing else within our prayers
not thinking of any others
not listening in prayer.
called to something deeper
when we bow before our Savior
when we lift up prayers to God
needing to submit our wills
needing to be open
to be brutally honest
God calls us to listen first
to wait for His direction
God answering our prayers
in His time, for His purpose
“help me; thank you”, only the beginning
God longs for conversation with each of His children.
