Words that Bind – v5

In this moment in time
a nation divided, fragmented,
with struggle and strife,
war and oppression challenging
threatening our world,
our own stability

Words that bind,
that bring us together as a people,
as a nation, simple words, an oath
a pledge to guard what we have created
to remain a nation of laws, and
to strive to make this a better world

in the Constitution, unlike the general principles elsewhere.
"I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will faithfully
execute the office of President of the United States,
and will to the best of my ability, preserve, protect and defend
the Constitution of the United States."
