his determination to die

We misunderstand His silence
if we listen to their statements,
Jesus’ silence spoke to us
His silence was more than acquiescence.

This was evidence of
His determination to die
Christ could have spoken
to upend the proceedings
He could have stopped these false trials.

Christ could have called down
tongues of fire, angels,
but Christ chose silence
to fulfill His purpose
the plan of Almighty God.
