one pivotal moment

one pivotal moment
given power in secret
shame etched on my spirit
seared in my consciousness,
changing who I am…
 
only a few minutes
but changing my life completely,
no longer able to love
to be happy in my spirit,
changing who I am…
 
an identity shaped in silence
in secret far too long
those few minutes given power
my days given to Satan
changing who I am…
 
only now reclaiming myself,
what was lost and broken, taken,
being open and transparent about my pain,
turning to our Father’s love,
changing who I am…

lost, damaged, stolen

a few minutes of touching
my body reacting
horror and shame
a knife stabbed through me,
never fully healed…
 
years of silence
my sense of shame unspoken
the hurt he caused
a wound without scar tissue
open and bleeding still…
 
so much lost, damaged, stolen,
in those brief few minutes,
my innocence, my wonder,
my sense of sexuality,
my ability to be honest, open…
 
years of silence
letting the hurt change me,
acting out in anger
later, accepting,
taking what wasn’t mine…

Hear my cry, oh Father

I am hurting, I am broken
I am separated from You,
I have not felt You with me
in my pain, my brokenness…
 
I have felt abandoned, afraid
when the enemy attacks me
I have carried my pain,
a shame deep within me…
 
Hear my cry, oh Father,
even when words do not come
the prayers deep within me
how I need Your love…
 
I have tried to fill the hole
the ache deep within me
but You alone are the answer
to every prayer I have spoken,
every one left unsaid…

in despair, taking

an exploring, a revelation on my journey,

longing for what was taken from me,
sabotaging my life in secret, in silence,
layer after layer of scar tissue,
not seeing a way out of my pain
the hurt deep down within me…
 
in despair, acting out, angry,
taking control, autonomy, agency,
all that had been taken, stolen,
the hole created within me an idol,
wanting to reclaim myself,
to be able to walk in freedom…
 
not trusting God to protect me
in my secret pain, my struggle,
a false sense of my identity,
of the flesh, of the world,
the carnal nature of man
not the love of Almighty God…
 
only in tearing away the scar tissue
the defense mechanisms, the terror,
Finding healing on the journey
longing for a turning, a changing,
confession leading to repentance,
turning my life, my will to God…

A Coalition of the Doing – v2

A Coalition of the Willing, but,
Willing to do what?
Gathering in meetings,
releasing weasel-word statements,
gathering, posing for photographs,
patting each other on the back
so proud of themselves…
while so many are dying
waiting for action, for the Willing
to be Doing, Standing, Fighting
for Justice, for Ukraine, for children,
for all the innocent martyrs, victims,
those in their bathtubs, in corridors,
for all those hiding in subway stations
filled with the smoke of terror,
of Russia’s relentless genocide…

They don’t need Willing,
lies, false promises, fake allies,
those aspiring to gain courage…
These brave people need resolve,
a Coalition of the Doing,
Standing with Ukraine,
to embolden the Willing,
to take that step forward,
to finally act, to move forward,
beyond their place of comfort…
Recognizing the cost of delay,
ignoring the acts of the aggressor,
sowing seeds in their own countries,
because hybrid war is war, coming,
if the Willing are not Doing,
their time will come…

Ukrainians will keep fighting, but if you want the front line to stay where it is, your time has come. We need weapons, we need equipment, we need technologies, air defense, we need responsibility. Shared responsibility.”

Only Christ’s sacrifice worthy
to pay the awful price
the pain of our sin
that took Him to the cross…
 
God’s law is righteous
His standard is perfection
only Christ could repay
the debt of our sin…
 
Only God can forgive us
our Father in heaven
accepting Christ’s sacrifice
His perfect payment…
 
Only God’s grace
Christ’s mercy in surrender
submitting to God’s wrath
the debt of our sin…

stand fast in your faith

live for the Father,
for our Creator God in heaven,
His still small voice,
stand fast in your faith
stay on the path…
 
stay within the sheepfold
within the arms of Jesus
listen to the Spirit
guide your every step
stand fast in your faith…
 
stand fast in your faith
cleave to your Father,
go where He leads you,
walk rightly on the path
God has written for you…

Ukraine endures – v3

In this time of struggle, of war, of terror,
in this sacred moment, celebrating life,
spanning countless generations, history,
for 1,000 years, Ukraine endures,
in this place they hold dear, Ukraina,
that Taras sang of, that he painted,
Cossacks, the Kobzars, the Hetman,
poplars, the children, the maidens,
Yes, Ukraine endures forever…
 
Not a static moment, now only,
on this day of celebration, today,
but across time, the generations,
An ancient truth of resolve, united,
of resilience, of resistance, one,
in the beating heart of each Ukrainian
together with their homeland, forever,
united in their struggle, their defiance,
never submitting to the aggressor…
 
Ukraine endures, a nation,
a sovereign people, Ukrainians,
united in their hearts, their spirits,
in the songs rising within them…
Their anthem that binds them,
Standing to honor their fallen,
Kneeling, rising like a Kyivan sunrise,
Their flag flying from each flagpole,
Peace over their beloved land…
