In Secret They Were Sent

Magi, astrologers, wise men.
They were the outsiders, the unclean foreigners;
but he needed spies to find the baby
to search out the king, to find his rival
pinpoint his strike, his attack,
to cut off the prophesy, to deny God
So Herod met with the foreigners
the outsiders, to be his unwitting agents;
but God had other plans
Plans for homage and for safety
for glory and for the future
