Out of the day of Thanksgiving
after the declarations
of Christ the King
at the cusp of Advent
preparing our hearts
perspective on our world
on our lives
entering into the waiting,
remembering Mary, Joseph,
their journey to Advent
from their home
to the ancestral home
a righteous shoot of Jesse
a branch from the stump
the root of David,
just as had been foretold
But a human journey
her pregnancy, expectancy
leading to rejection at the inn
humble stable and his manger bed
all of this, and the path,
the road to Calvary and the cross
all of this about to begin anew
waiting, not yet ready
at this, the cusp of Advent.
