Gathering to Praise

not merely thanking God
for the bounty, the abundance
the individual gifts poured out
heaped upon each one of us
Gathering to Praise God
to worship the creator
the one who made all of this
our lives, the universe,
the wonders all around
the one who gave himself
as a mortal, human
walking among us
gathering together
in corporate, as a body
not a single congregation
being the body of Christ
his holy church,
people gathered together
to praise you alone
