The rich stark colors
vividness of the season
God’s artistry so evident
in his palette of autumn
bright lines of color
ablaze, alive, shimmering
calling to us, to see, to hear God’s call
layer upon layer, living hue upon hue
all of them shouting your praises
to you the creator of the universe
all of creation singing one song
to your majesty, to your grace
showering this beauty on the world
knowing in this season more than some
that like the leaves, in their perfection
singing to you at the end of this life
in dying our victory, eternally
to see you in the courts of glory
