The temptations around us
the false idols, baubles
all trying to lead us
to the pit, to our doom
God calling to us
in the depth of his wisdom
his love providing
a way to eternal life
The world we know
all that we value here
leading us to destruction
if we heed the sirens’ call
all of this leading
us away from Jesus
from the love of our Savior
to the greed and lust of earth
