Not folded, but open

Looking at my own hands
at the altar rail
not folded, but open
as I kneel to pray
My hands open
my palms raised up
wanting to be ready
as you fill my cup
A symbol of that promise
that you will answer prayers
a promise on my part
to accept your loving gift
Ready to be filled
to be used, to be poured out
wanting to be a blessing
because of my great blessing
my saving at the cross
