Snake Brain

Reptilian center, deep within us
responding, instinctive,
learned behavior
Stresses remembered
engrained, emotive
a twitched muscle,
an unspoken word
cascade of chemicals
synapses firing
response uncontrolled
fight or flight
snake brain in charge
reason, rational
these for another day
away from this stress
