Us versus Them

Seeking winners and losers
when our bodies are connected
our brains seeing attachment
within this circle of man

Hoping to heal the ruptured relation
the tear to the fabric
the breach of the covenant
the familial bonds broken

Yet bound to positions
to places in the drama
Us versus Them
with our children in the middle

Desperately needing a way
to an Us situation, into connection
to restore the bonds broken,
hoping for deep healing
or at least to mend our open wounds
